I care for my aged ma at home. During the years of caring I have noticed a lack of helpful information on caring for your loved one at home. I don’t pretend to be an expert on aged care or have any medical qualifications. This blog is solely about my experiences and what I have learnt along the way, it is not meant to take the place of professional advice.
I hope that you find my information helpful in your journey of caring for your loved one.
Hi Jennifer
I work at Wicking as a lecturer in nutrition and dementia and had a look at your blog after seeing it linked to a post in the social sphere on the MOOC. Well done with it – people find it easier to cope with being a carer when they know they are not alone so is a valuable discussion point.
welcome to the MOOC – you will find it very useful.
I wrote a book a while ago you might find useful also in understanding some of the things you mention are happening with your ma – its not specifically on dementia (Im working on that one now) but has a chapter on it. Its called “Eat to Cheat Ageing” – its on nutrition and ageing but also provides a guide to many issues of importance to the elderly.
Have a look at the website http://www.eattocheatageing.com or FB http://www.facebook.com/eattocheatageing to see if you think it could help you with your Ma.
enjoy the MOOC,
Ngaire
